Electrosteel USA is a subsidiary of Electrosteel Castings Ltd., which is a world-class provider of ductile iron (DI) pipe and fittings whose history dates back to 1955. Electrosteel products are marketed and used across the United States and across the globe in more than 50 countries. They enable millions of people to enjoy pure drinking water every day and provide many other amenities for the global public's health and well-being.

We have marketing offices not only in the U.S. but also in countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Algeria, Abu Dhabi, Beijing and Singapore. Our manufacturing operations are located in India and include:

  • A cast iron spun pipe plant
  • A ductile iron pipe plant
  • A ductile iron fittings plant
  • A coke oven
  • A sponge iron plant
  • An independent power plant

All of our plants are state of the art and operate under some of the world's strictest quality, safety and environmental standards. We are the largest manufacturer of DI pipes, cast iron pipes and fittings in the Indian sub-continent with an annual production approaching 800 thousand metric tons.

We seek fair competition in every market in which we have a presence. Our pipe and fittings have superior quality and we receive no governmental pricing subsidies or support of any kind.

The following areas summarize our activities and position on key areas of focus for our operations including quality, safety and health, and the environment:

  • Electrosteel's operations have the highest possible accreditation standards, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • We are the only provider of ductile iron in the U.S. that is ISO 14001 certified. In fact, we are the first ductile iron pipe plant to ever receive ISO 14001 accreditation. To obtain ISO 14001 certification, Electrosteel has:
    • Reduced ground water consumption for industrial purposes by recycling 92% of our wastewater.
    • Introduced vehicular emission testing at plants to ensure emission compliance by all incoming heavy vehicles.
    • Implemented in-plant training on environmental and safety measures.
  • Our operations are Quality accredited by more than 20 governing agencies across the globe, including UL and FM.
  • Our processes and our products are international benchmarks in the pipe industry.

Safety and Health:

  • The safety of our employees and the citizens in the vicinity of our plants is our first concern.
  • We conduct regular training and monitoring with our employees to ensure safe operating practices.
  • We undergo safety audits by experts from similar industries.
  • We conduct regular Danger Prediction Drills to prepare for potential problems.
  • Ambient air quality is regularly monitored to ensure a healthy work environment at our Khardah and Haldia facilities.
  • We encourage employee involvement at all levels to participate as safety volunteers. We hold regular safety-related quiz competitions among staff and workers to stay mindful of safety.
  • We continue to operate two charitable medical Institutions for local citizens.
  • We regularly conduct free medical checkups, x-rays, blood donation days and other tests in our operational areas.

  • Electrosteel's operations are designed and run with the intent of having the least possible impact on the environment. We therefore adhere to strict environmental standards.
  • 92% of our plant waste water is recycled and reused.
  • Electrosteel's 12 megawatt power plant at Haldia is an official Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project under the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change under the Kyoto Protocol. Here, heat from the waste gas emissions from the nearby Coke Oven and the Sponge Iron Plant is utilized for power generation, saving approximately 78,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
  • Blast Furnace Gas (BFG) is used instead of light diesel oil in our Heat Treatment Furnace, resulting in substantial energy savings. BFG also fuels a Captive Power Plant of 3.5 megawatts, providing power to the pipe plant and significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
  • Our Sintering Plant is a zero waste plant.
  • Dust collected by our pollution control equipment is used as raw material for another product to produce fertilizer for agriculture, thereby avoiding soil and air contamination.
  • Our fittings manufacturing technique eliminates the traditional use of sand and binders, thus preventing environmental contamination.
  • We have achieved an emission rate of only 300mg/kg of hot metal handled, which is one of the lowest in the industry.
  • Our extensive use of solar lamps and CFL bulbs in the plant and office has reduced energy consumption.
  • We have a full-fledged laboratory to monitor and control pollution in our plant and operating areas.
  • We focus on the development of the eco-system and improvement of the green belt in and around our manufacturing plants.
