The only ISO 14001 certified supplier of DIP in the USA
- Electrosteel’s operations are designed and run with the intent of having the least possible impact on the environment. We, therefore, adhere to strict environmental standards.
- 92% of our plant wastewater is recycled and reused.
- Electrosteel’s 12-megawatt power plant at Haldia is an official Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project under the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change under the Kyoto Protocol. Here, heat from the waste gas emissions from the nearby Coke Oven and the Sponge Iron Plant is utilized for power generation, saving approximately 78,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
- Blast Furnace Gas (BFG) is used instead of light diesel oil in our Heat Treatment Furnace, resulting in substantial energy savings. BFG also fuels a Captive Power Plant of 3.5 megawatts, providing power to the pipe plant and significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
- Our Sintering Plant is a zero waste plant.
- Dust collected by our pollution control equipment is used as raw material for another product to produce fertilizer for agriculture, thereby avoiding soil and air contamination.
- Our fittings manufacturing technique eliminates the traditional use of sand and binders, thus preventing environmental contamination.
- We have achieved an emission rate of only 300mg/kg of hot metal handled, which is one of the lowest in the industry.
- Our extensive use of solar lamps and CFL bulbs in the plant and office has reduced energy consumption.
- We have a full-fledged laboratory to monitor and control pollution in our plant and operating areas.
- We focus on the development of the eco-system and improvement of the green belt in and around our manufacturing plants.
